Established in 2002, Bakers Waste has built a strong reputation for providing reliable and sustainable waste collection and recycling services across the Midlands. The trade waste division offers comprehensive solutions for commercial clients, including general waste, recycling, and food waste collections, with a focus on diverting waste from landfill.

Quercus International has advised Wilrose Environmental, a family-owned waste management company based in Surrey, on its sale to CIRQLR, a growing platform in the circular economy sector. Wilrose offers a comprehensive range of services, including commercial waste and recycling collections, skip hire, roll-on/roll-off bins, compactors, and garden waste removal, all while diverting 100% of general waste from landfill. 

Quercus International has advised Ellgia Recycling, a prominent independent waste management and recycling company, on its sale to CIRQLR, a growing platform in the circular economy sector. Operating across East Anglia, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, and South Yorkshire, Ellgia offers a comprehensive suite of services—including skip hire, commercial waste collection, and recycling solutions—with a strong commitment to achieving zero waste to landfill.The company manages a network of permitted transfer stations and processing facilities, enabling the production of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) from residual waste .

Quercus International has advised CIRQLR, a new waste management platform, on its acquisition of The Recycling Partnership and its sister company, Cox Skips. Established in 2000 and based in West Sussex, The Recycling Partnership is one of the largest independent waste collection businesses in the South East, operating depots in East and West Sussex and offering commercial waste and recycling collections across Sussex and Surrey. The group operates a fleet of over 50 vehicles and a commercial waste site licensed to handle 260,000 tonnes of waste and recyclable material per year. Cox Skips complements this with a fully licensed waste recycling centre, processing various materials including glass, cardboard, hardcore, soil, metals, and hazardous waste.

Quercus International has advised CIRQLR, a new waste management platform, on its acquisition of Castle Environmental, a leading UK-based specialist in hazardous and liquid waste treatment. Established over 40 years ago, Castle operates facilities in Ilkeston, Stoke-on-Trent, and Cardiff, processing more than 200,000 tonnes of waste annually.

Headquartered in Kirkby with sites in Berwick, Hull, Rugby, Honiton and Plymouth, Future Industrial Services (FIS) works with clients across government, major utilities and national & multi-national companies to provide a range of specialised and cost-effective hazardous waste and industrial services.

FIS is one of the leading independent providers of hazardous waste services in the UK, dealing with a variety of complex waste streams across its five permitted processing, treatment and recovery sites which includes the UK’s only Mercury recovery facility.  Alongside this hazardous waste offering, FIS has established a specialist industrial services business with a market-leading position in Energy from Waste (‘EfW’) plant maintenance and cleaning.

EnviroServ is headquartered near Johannesburg, with regional facilities across South Africa. It is also active in Mozambique and Uganda. It was founded in 1979, and collects, treats, and disposes of general and hazardous waste, with treatment and disposal facilities across South Africa, Mozambique, and Uganda. It has a staff of 2,200 people and a turnover of nearly £70 million and is the only player in South Africa with full national coverage and a complete service offering.

EnviroServ has an extensive customer base across a range of sectors including petrochemicals, manufacturing, metallurgical and mining sectors, as well as serving local authorities.

BPR Group Europe Limited trading as Paper Round (“BPR”) is one of the leading independent waste management businesses in the South East.  Reef Environmental Limited (“Reef”) is an independent provider of waste and recycling services across East Sussex and Kent. Reef’s customer base and geographical footprint are highly complementary to that of BPR, providing a great opportunity for the combined business in the marketplace.  The enlarged business will also offer greater opportunities for the management and staff in both businesses in Sussex and beyond.

Headquartered in High Wycombe, Simply Waste is the leading provider of recycling and waste management services in London and the South East of England. Founded in 2006 by James and Natalie Capel the business has a major operational footprint with its main site located close to Heathrow Airport providing unparalleled access to the buoyant London market, as well as the Home Counties and has regional depots spanning the South of England.

Quercus has been working closely with James and Natalie since 2019 to help formulate an exit strategy including preparing the business for sale.  We marketed Simply Waste to a select audience and advised on all aspects of the transaction from deal strategy and preparation through to marketing and finally negotiation of pricing and deal structure. A key part of our role was dealing with the challenges presented by Covid-19 and ensuring that the transaction remained on track during Lockdown.
