Quercus International is delighted to have performed an important role in the creation and development of iCON Infrastructure’s new Waste Management and Recycling group, CIRQLR, led by industry veteran, David Palmer-Jones OBE.
A Quercus team led by Mark Whelan and Neil Giles worked with the Group from the outset and advised iCON and CIRQLR on the first two acquisitions (Castle Environmental and Cox Skips/The Recycling Partnership). They also advised on the creation of the advisory team that has supported on all its acquisitions to date.
As the most active adviser in the UK waste industry, it was inevitable that Quercus would have clients that fitted CIRQLR’s strategy and acquisition criteria which culminated in three successful sales (Wilrose, Ellgia and Bakers Trade Waste business) to CIRQLR over a six-month period with Mike Mortimor and Amanda Hall leading the Quercus teams on the latter two.
Mark Whelan, Partner at Quercus said, “the establishment of CIRQLR comes at a time of significant change and opportunity in the industry as businesses try to grapple with changing market dynamics, the implications of new legislation such as Simpler Recycling and EPR and the increasing pressure to demonstrate ESG credentials. My Quercus colleagues and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing a significant part in the CIRQLR story to date and we look forward to seeing the group develop and grow under the expert leadership of David Palmer-Jones”.
David Palmer-Jones OBE, CEO of CIRQLR commented “ we are proud to launch CIRQLR and continue in our mission to “give waste a second life” The support of Quercus has been invaluable in the initial growth phase of our company”
